Cell Development Engineer/Scientist

Oxford PV is looking for a talented and motivated Engineer/Scientist to work at the forefront of state-of-the-art next generation photovoltaics, with a key responsibility to develop and integrate creative innovations for pushing perovskite solar cells to their fundamental limits. You will join a dynamic and passionate multi-disciplinary team.

 

Responsibilities

The Cell Development Scientist/Engineer's responsibilities include:

  • To plan, co-ordinate and analyse photovoltaic device experiments, with a view towards identifying routes to improve device performance, and present reports to Cell Development Manager and wider technical team.
  • To apply a broad skillset in device design, semiconductor physics, thin-film process development, and advanced device and thin-film characterisation.
  • To show foresight and strategic thinking to understand performance bottlenecks and identify innovative routes to cell development
  • The use of statistical analysis to ensure cell improvements are robust and consistent.
  • Adhere to standard operation procedures (SOPs) for cell fabrication and characterisation processes, in view of contributing to a systematic R&D approach. Experience in writing SOPs desirable.
  • Ensure tasks are appropriately prioritised and executed according to agreed timelines.
  • Comply with quality standards including scientific integrity, record keeping and health and safety.
  • Support the work activities of team members outside priority work and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
Skills

This position would ideally suit the following:

  • An expert in developing Perovskite photovoltaics devices.
  • An expert more generally in the development of Thin-Film photovoltaics.
  • An expert in the field of Interface Engineering, with knowledge of passivation strategies and interfacial process control.
Qualifications and experience
  • Postgraduate Degree in engineering or physical sciences.
  • An understanding of semiconductor materials and device operation.
  • Experience in perovskite thin-film photovoltaics (or another thin-film photovoltaics technology) is desirable.
  • Experience in processing and characterisation of thin film active layers within thin-film photovoltaic device is essential.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively identify the tasks required to move projects forward.
  • Competence in statistical data analysis software will be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and written skills.
  • Proactive team player, capable of establishing strong working relationships within the Oxford PV team.
Working times and salary

Salary commensurate with experience.

Full Time 37.5 hours- Monday to Friday 08:30-17:00.

Travel to our Germany facility may be required.
