Onwards to 30% efficiency with perovskite tandem solar cells
Perovskite is proving to be a solar cell material with some amazing properties. It is already the fastest improving solar cell technology there has ever been.
Today the highest reported crystalline silicon single cell efficiency is 24.7%; with a more typical production value of 17% for a module. For cadmium telluride (CdTe) solar cell modules, their module efficiency is typically 15%.
Our perovskite solar cells are already performing at 17% in the laboratory. We expect to see single-junction perovskite solar cells reach 25% cell efficiency within a few years. For a tandem perovskite/perovskite solar cell 30% is quite possible within the same timeline.
